340/s for sale

Post by jdsledhead »

Hey guys. I've reluctantly decided to sell my 340/s. It's time to convert some assets to cash to help finance my first home purchase, hopefully this coming spring. I will also be selling most of my NOS parts except what I need for a few project I've decided to keep, more for sentimental reason than anything else. So keep an eye out for parts listings coming in the near future.

Anyways, I saved the sled from Rainville - I mean I bought it from Rainville 3 or 4 years ago at least. The sled was completely original with 804 miles except for the seat and tank covers. I disassembled the sled down to the bare chassis, degreased it, and began reassembling most of the parts. The rear suspension was siezed, so I spend 10+ hours getting it apart and back together with new shocks and free moving parts. Also new hyfax runners were installed. While the skid was out I installed Kalamazoo double claws and NOS Deere star studs to the cleats of the track. I believe I also replaced a few cleats but I'll have to check - I don't remember. I installed brand new 4" carbides to go with the "studs". I repainted the skis and put NOS leaf springs on it. The engine had excellent compression, but I feared the crank seals were original so I tore down the engine to clean, inspect, and reseal. I used new aftermarket crank seals to ensure the rubber was "new". I used NOS gaskets for the rest.

Every piece of the sled has been gone through and rebuilt or replaced. I will list what I did to make it easier to read this, and if someone has additional questions they can email me.

-brake master cyl. and caliper rebuilt, new fluid
-carbs cleaned, new lines, filter, rebuilt fuel pump
-tank cleaned and pickup line replaced
-chaincase gone through, new fluid
-driven clutch rebuilt with new spring and wear pads
-primary clutch rebuilt with new spring, weights, cover bushing - weights are not correct and should be modified
-new engine rubber mounts NOS
-NOS speedometer, the original read 804 miles and still worked but the glass was cracked
-new kill switch

Sled runs good, but the clutching needs work. The primary weights are incorrect. Sled has original windshield, trim, and screws. Airbox intact. Aluminum bellypan, but original bumper was retained. The back of the seat cover needs fixing, as shown in the pics. Sled is complete and running other than the clutching issue. The only parts it needs are ski shocks.

Sled comes with a NOS cylinder head, misc NOS engine gaskets, wrist pin bearings, piston rings, and I think some other small trinkets.

Price is $1500.00

Sled is located in Pendleton, NY.

Hey Tim,

Glad my old sled from "Webb Implement" in East Avon, NY found a new home. I would have liked to have purchased it, but bringing home 2 trailes full of treasure was enough for now. The 340/s I scored on this haul was also from a local dealer, and one of the Dators finished the I-500.

Later Liquidator!
