No damage here, the closest Irene came was 225 miles off the coast. Historically these storms get steered off the coast of Georgia as it "curves inward" due to either high pressure over the state or the storm feeding on warm gulf stream current moisture, which is far off shore, and head on up to bullseye North Carolina's coast. Don't get me wrong, it could have taken a turn, but about Wednesday we let our breath out here as it was clearly going north.

Now I have friends in the northeast that got hit to some extent or another. Even being fifty miles in land still means high winds, several inches of rain and power outages. And they have had a very wet summer too, so already wet ground plus high winds and more rain = lots of down trees.
