sanding hoods.... what about dent removal??
sanding hoods.... what about dent removal??
i've read the section on sanding hoods. what a great amount of insight. i am looking forward to restoring a 77 440 liquifire & a 77 440 cyclone. last season i obtained a yami through some deere trading. it had a dent left of center from the front going toward the left ski strut. i took exhuast pipe out and placed a 2-3" thick phone book on the dent (which was rounded, no creases) and gave it a few whacks with a 10# sledge hammer. after several "adjustments" it looks great and now hood and bumper have the same body lines again.

Re: sanding hoods.... what about dent removal??
I assume you are talking about taking dents out of the belly pan/tunnel. I went and bought a cheap set of autobody hammers/dollys ($20) in order to straighten the dents in my pan. I guess we'll see how good I am with them.
