Satisfied with seat

Post by Horicon Joe »

I bought a Sportfire with a seat that was pulled away from the foam.
Usually the seats have a slice in them some place but this one did not.
I decided to to remove the cover and try my hand at repairing it. I learned
a lot about the process and next time it will turn out better. ........ However,
I am satisfied with the result.

Back of seat .........

The small tear above the tail light was under it when I removed it.
After the hump was glued it pulled up and around ..........
It should be barely noticed when installed.

I would have to say at least $200 and up to $300 for sure.
They are hard to find and the molded look of the original is prefered
in my book to keep it stock looking. I have 3 NOS seats like this and would
not part with them.

No difference to my knowledge. Same part number for them. The only differences I am aware of are the early 79 and 80 seats. They added additional foam inserts in 81? to the seats to make them more firm. Appearance is the same from the outside.

Nice work Horicon. I am sending you 14 more to repair. Some need NOS covers. Of course I expect you will do this for free.

Remember, I know where you live, LOL!

See you in a few weeks,
-Rainville
