Operation Bambii: The sled JD probably SHOULD have built...

Post by dorkpunch »

But they never did.

Y'all might remember this from earlier this summer:

Image

Well, Christmas is gettin close and my boys would probably like a present under the tree, so, time to get to work. Got busy on it tonight. Drug it in to the garage a couple of days ago and blasted everything with WD40, and started pulling it apart tonight. Think I'm going to make the hood come off easier- its got to be a royal pain to change the oil or even CHECK the oil the way it sits.

Image

Might see if that 4 horse honda will fit under there too, I have a strong aversion to Tecumseh's.

Got the skis stripped off so I can straighten them up. Got to lookin at the track, and its not in real great shape. Open to suggestions here...

Got the rear axle off, the front drive axle is being a pain and the center boggey wheel rack is too. Soakin in WD40 right now. Stuffed it back in the corner:

Added some camoflage:

And the boys will never know.

Plan on painting it up to look like one of these:

so maybe they can do this next summer:

As far as i know pretty much all the Snow flake tracks are in that condition, or is it a wolverine. I cant see you being able to easily get a track for them. If you build some nicer supports for the track you might get some life out of it. It's not like you are dealing with alot of power there. Best of luck with Bambi

Hey if it were me I would advertise looking for a track ! you never Know there are quite a few guys that collect the Minis !! Could be a great source for parts ?? If that doesn't pan out then maybe you can do a track conversion from like a kitty kat or Sno pony ? just my .00034 cents Jdrob good luck w/ it i am sure the boys will be thrilled no matter what ! :usa:

I would put regular cleats on it if they will fit , that might help that track last awhile. :beers; :letitsnow: :needsnow: :thinksnow: :sled:

You may be able to take a 15 " track and cut it down to fit.
You could cut it shorter and have it laced as the little 4 stroke will not have the torque to pull it apart.

But finding the correct track would be easiest if they are out there.
