Newest member saying Hi!!

Post by bagmanindy »

I just joined last night and am just now getting a chance to introduce myself.

I would like to thank everyone in advance for their help and advice. From what I have seen by looking around some, you guys know your stuff and I appreciate the fact that you are willing to share it!

My name is Tony(bagmanindy) and I live in Indianapolis, IN. Not a lot of snow here, but enough to play around in a few times a year.

I bought a pair of John Deere sleds way back in 1993 and got them running. Rode them for a couple of years and they have been stored since then(due to lack of space). I finally got a place with a barn and 10 acres, so it's time to dig into them again. I am going to need a lot of help.

I won't go into eerything here, but here is some info for you guys:

I believe this is what I have:

1976 John Deere 300's
MFG tags are: J300E 057788M Date of MFG 6 75
J300E 057785M Date of MFG 6 75

Walbro carb WDB-31

They are in pretty good shape considering all that they have been through. I will get some pictures up as soon as I can.

I thought about giving up on these, but I just love these old sleds, so count me in.

PS If I do give up on them, I will do my best to find them a good home, and this seems like a great place to start.

Hello Tony,

Welcome to jdsleds.com! Always glad to see a new member post. Glad to hear you didn't see your 300. The 76 is second year of the updated hoods, and I think the nicest looking mid-motor style.

Hope you enjoy the site!

Tony. I run a NHRA Pro-Stock snowmobile and every April we run at the Lucas Oil event at Indy. Trust me you are not the only sled nut down there. Try to come by and say hi next spring. Peter

Hi Tony, another Hoosier here. We're located in Churubusco near Fort Wayne. We buy, sell, and restore John Deere sleds so don't hesitate calling on us if you need anything. Come to Indy pretty frequently.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I am looking forward to getting into these sleds and really appreciate everyone's help.

WinnipegStPaul9,
Sounds like you guys have a nice thing going up there. My older son goes to IPFW, so I am up there often. I'll try and stop by sometime.

Peter,
Lots of respect to you and That Girl Racing, I have watched the sleds at Lucas Oil Raceway, in fact, I live only 3 miles from the drag strip. I will look you up this spring.

Here's my number, 260-609-2833. Call me anytime you're in the area. I'll be going to Indy in late November for county commissioner meetings and again in December to the IMIS show at the convention center. Betting I'm the only snowmobile racer at IMIS LOL
