I bought the farm
I bought the farm
Last June I was facing a problem as two of the barns I store sleds in were going to be unavailable in the near future.
I had to find new storage fast.
I had no luck but than spoted this acreage for sale.
So I bought the farm. And than spent every free hour I had in the last five months working out there to create a shop and storage.
Not quit ready to rip sleds apart yet but real close.
First picture is the 26 x 26 shop.

I put in over 100 lineal feet of shelving. A dozen high effentcy lights.
Two inch thick R-20 garage doors. 100 amp electrical service.

Here is a shot of my custom built 18 foot long work bench. And the PTHP I bought to heat and cool the place.

Here is the pole barn that I should be able to put 75 sleds in. I took a lot of work to get this 30 year old building usable for my purposes.

Re: I bought the farm
I have not wrenched on a sled since May of this year. But I have been plenty busy with a saw and hammer.
Or in this, case a cordless drill, 15 lbs of screws and $400 worth of 2X4's and plywood.
I now have 324 lineal feet of shelving inside the polebarn. And lights. And a pile of parts yet to go in there.

So now that I am almost done being a carpenter, electrician, framer, painter and rock picker I have some projects lined up for my attention in the shop.

Here is a before picture.
The garage had no windows, no walk-in door, one outlet and two 60 watt light bulbs.
No insulation, no ceiling, no attic vents and two junked single pale fiberglass doors.
The eight foot side walls were 1.5" out of plumb. The 33 year old siding was rotted.
The only thing that I did not do myself was bury the new underground service from the road.
REA only charged 50 cents a foot. I could not rent a trencher for that.
The new siding is primed but not panited as I ran out of warm weather and will have to do that in the spring.
I also have new shingles to put on. The old ones will last through this winter.

Re: I bought the farm
Congrats on the new diggs, Todd. Flat screen is a nice touch! I assume there is a refrigerator there some where too.
Re: I bought the farm
I would like to second that motion. Looks like you at least getting more accomplished than me this year. Can we get another pic of the TXL please.JDXspec wrote:I'm still waiting for that tour of your barns when I'm in Milbank in June![]()

Re: I bought the farm
That is the TXL I picked up a month ago for $200. Run last winter.
I am not into sleds from Roesau but I couldn't pass on this one as it is worth may more than that.
