Fire Series Thermostats for LF's
Fire Series Thermostats on Liquifires. Can you replace the cable only on these and re-use the gauge? I know there are re-popped units for $142 on New Breed. Anyone have a working used cable or thermostat? Any aftermarket products work that are cheaper?

I think it's a one piece unit but if I'm wrong someone will say so. I will tell you that the repro units are fantastic.

Re: Fire Series Thermostats for LF's
Don is correct they are a 1 piece unit, but the quick answer is yes it can be done. There is a very detailed post here explaining how to use a donor aftermarket guage. It requires a cold bath to cool the line, cut and solder the new line and probe to the old gauge. Without the cooling step the gas escapes the line rendering it useless. At lease one member has done this with good results. I also agree the repopped gauges are beautiful.

Re: Fire Series Thermostats for LF's
Thanks. That is what I thought. Learning the hard way. I damaged two units removing them... the original broke off when we rebuilt the motor and then 1 from a donor sled. I got the donor gauge off no problem. The gauge worked with hot / cold water test before install. The gauge has not moved since I installed while idling. Not letting it idle long, but it won't move. I am going to remove and check with the water test again and then decide. I have one more on a dead sled, but not sure condition.
I don't think I have the patience to try the repair method as of yet. I guess I will keep the old broken ones another day or when I meet the guy who perfects a cost effective repair. Any tips or tricks on the install / removal without the cable twisting and possibly breaking? ~
