Post by bigjohndeere »

Looking for help with used parts for a 74 400 that's almost complete...
glove box
bumper
Windshield attachment screws

Looking for any advice on aftermarket parts as well...
Gas cap with guage, this is the screw on one for the metal tank - is there a recommended alternative?

The windshield screws are common machine screws, .190 x 1"

The gas gauges show up on ebay.http://www.ebay.com/itm/JOHN-DEERE-SNOW ... _500wt_715

The bumper and glove box is pretty much a "find used" item

The screws you need are common hardware store items.

10-32 x 1". I always buy the SS ones as they will never rust.
I also use a SS washer under the crew.

They turn into what is called a wellnut. These are 10-32 and fit a 3/8" hole.
Again a common item. Ebay, MCM, Fastenal, Fleet Farm, Auto Parts store, ect.

Anyone know of a source for the #10 x 1", black oxide / slot pan head screws used to fasten the engine console ?

All I can find in black oxide is philips head.
