Well after determining that I need to replace crank seals and clean the carb, I thought I might as well clean this thing up a bit.
First thing i did was take off the chain case cause it was leaking, get it off and what do you know theres half of a gaskit and a o ring that is in many peices . With that off it gave me easy access to the air box bolt so that came off next( I now see why you guys say to put the short style carb boots on these things cause it took a while to get out). I then went to the front and took of the hood and the mufler. Now I'm down to the engine, clutch, and the battery box.
Things I have already found that need replaced or repaired other than crank seals are: TPR panel, throtle block, chain case o ring and gaskit, tie rod ends, the grill, the bumper, seat, and backrest.
More to come as I dig deeper into this one

Re: Trailfire 440 clean up
What year is that sled? I have an '80 440 but it has '79 decals both on the hood and tunnel. Strange! Thats the way I bought it. Dont know if it originally came that way or not but its a little irritating knowing its not right. Dont want to start 'fixing' things 'cause I know I wont stop with just the decals once I start! LOL! Good luck with your project and keep us posted!

Re: Trailfire 440 clean up
Well its been awhile since I updated this. Here are some things that I have added or fixed: cleaned carb, new belt over seat, a suspension shock of the front of a yami 4-wheeler for the suspension, and a chain tensioner that i made my self.

Clay,
That chain looks a bit snug. You might want to check the Liquifire book to see where it is supposed to be set.
