Recoil

Post by bladefever »

Will the 340 L/C sprintfire recoil work on the 340 F/A spitfire engine ?

Thanks

I think it would depend on the year of Spitfire. ie: kohler vs kawasaki

Am I right?

I would think that it would fit if it's a Kawi-powered Spit, however the part numbers do not match, so I don't know for sure.

If my memory is correct I think the Sprintfire has a oil injection drive on it. This could account for the different part numbers or not.

Isn't the Sprintfire oil pump driven off the same belt as the water pump? The Trailfire LX, 82 and up Sportfire have recoil - driven oil pumps.

AirborneX4Special, You are right. I must of had the 2 confused. I did open some hoods and it appears that the Spitfire recoil has a total width that is greater than a Sprintfire. I quickly eyeballed this. It still may work by changing out the starter hub for its matched recoil. Bladefever give it a try and let us know.
