1981 scorpion sidewinder new find

Post by jdrob »

Well it started out with an innocent phone call to verify if it was a sidewinder and sure enough, the guy texted me pics and there it was.. Its in pretty good shape runs ok ! I think it needs a good tune-up . It needs a windshield and a set of brake pads. Did some research on these and it seems like a good sled to restore !! Oh and it needs a taillightlens also ! I will tryt and post some pics but no promises :lol22: :lol22:

love the windshield. Those are damn sexy sleds, I chased one around a few years back but never did get the sled. Enjoy.

Lens, pads and windsheild are still available aftermarket so you should be good to go.
Congrats on landing the fastest Scorpion ever made. :sled:

A buddy of mine in high school had one of those. It's the same thing as an Arctic Cat el Tigre 6000, but with a 440 in it if I'm not mistaken.

It's been almost a year now Rob, what's the status on the sidewinder? It's a great find, and it reminds me of my 80 el'tigre 5000, which I loved. When I sell my Sportfire I'm going to set some money aside for another one, or maybe a sidewinder if I can find one.....Terre

His is for sale. They are a great sled and according to Scorp (http://www.trailasled.com/) they made 1200 of them. Love mine. Had it at Waconia the last 2 years and always gets plenty of attention.

Mitch, I just saw the ad on vintagesleds.com, what a coincidence, but I just don't have any extra cash right now. I have to sell my Spitfire first, so I can buy decals for my Sportfire, then I can sell the Sportfire, and then I would have some extra $. As agent 86 would say "missed it by that much"!

No problem Rob, I don't have the extra cash anyway. I just put $800 into my truck so I know how you feel.
