What color silver?

Post by Steve's/440Trailfire »

Well, now that I finally have my 83 TF LX going I am ready to re-paint the hood. Is there a common color in rattle cans out there that is close to the WinterFrost Silver used from the factory. I'm not really wanting to spend a bunch of money on paint but want it to look right. Any help would be great! Thanks!

The quick answer is "check the FAQ section" it's in there. The longer answer is that the silver is the same as the "Argent" silver used by Case-IH for their tractor wheels. If you have a Case-IH dealer near by you're in luck.

I've used this silver to repaint tractor wheels several times. It tends to run easily, so my advice is to be patient and even err on the side of meticulous.

Argent is the French word for silver; I have no idea why there is a French language translation on every container of CIH paint, especially when the parent company is Italian.

This was the paint used by kwc for the charity sled. He would be a good guy to ask.

I always though French was a kind of universal thing. Seams that everywhere you go people enjoy it.

Here's the response from kwc, sorry I was wrong. The charity sled paint was a camera matched, custom blend and I don’t have the mix info anymore.

Don, you're not wrong, there is a post about that in the FAQ, it's just not what Kevin used.
