I've just been going through the Fine Tune Manuals for '79-'81 JD Sleds and comparing it to the '82.
Why did the Liquifire go to richer Power Jets from '82 and why richer on the PTO side? If I put in a HSR ignition into my '80, would it also benefit from going to '82 spec jetting? Would it benefit anyway?
Just trying to absorb as much info as I can on my new (for me) sled.

Re: Jetting 81 to 82
All 80-84 Liquifires should be jetted the same. Deere updated the jetting of the 80's (several times) under a few different update programs. Be careful some of the early service manuals don't call out the updated jetting. See this post for the last jetting

Re: Jetting 81 to 82
Hello! I have a 1980 JD Spitfire with the Kawasaki engine and Mikuni B34 butterfly carburetor. Is there anywhere to get parts for this carb? I am missing the piece called the "pilot bypass". I was very confused as to why the sled won't idle. When I went step-by-step with the manual and disassembled the carb, I discovered that I am missing this piece! Please help! Thanks. Eric (PS, I see that this thread is 81-82 but it was the closest topic I could find! Sorry!)
