Need spring

Post by 400brian »

Anyone have the spring that is used on 00/JDX brake cables?

Working on final assembly of 72 400. The NOS brake cable I have is missing the spring and clevis. I honestly don't remember if it came that way, or if I stole it off for another sled (The mind is the first thing that goes ).
The spring that came off the original is very rusty and nasty.

Looking for NOS or very good used.

After posting this, I did a search...and I think I may have found a source of these springs.
It looks like Manufacturers Supply has these, they are an Azuza brake part: AZ2392
75 cents each, I think I'll get a couple and check it out, the dimensions sound good.

These brake cables and the associated parts like spring, clevis ect are pretty much universal.

Even calipers exchange across brands on many vintage brands.
Deere's brake band is very different however.

MFS is a great sourse of parts. Maybe Matt can add some of these items to New Breed?

The M63655 spring used on all the 1975 and later sleds has the same dimensions as the Azusa AZ2392 spring you're looking at, 1/4" ID x 2 1/4" long. Breakdowns of the earlier models don't show the spring separate from the cable. I have an M63655 for you if the Azusa spring doesn't work out.
