The old stator bolt that was stripped out was extracted, points then set to .014 and the timing set to .023 before TDC. She runs, ok. I guess. She still needs choked whether hot or cold?? 2 new B9ES plugs also were installed. Gotta get some snow now and see what I have. Thanks guys!! I hope someone learned from this endeavor besides me!! I am still not sold on this yet.........but let it snow and we shall see.

I set the points first, both sets. They both read .014 wide open.

I thought you had the engine running without all the choke useage once?

1. Adjust the points for both #1 & #2

2. Set stator to correct timing of #1 cylinder (dial indicator in #1 head)

3. Reset points on #2 to correct timing (dial indicator in #2 head)

I did it exactly as you have it listed Rich.

The no choke was required with the low idle mix backed out 5 turns. I have the carb now as close to the manual as it can get.

The choke is pulled out, pull the rope, engines starts and runs as if its loaded up, then I quickly push the choke in and she runs. This is on a hot or cold startup up.
