I should add that I would be interested in a few sets of each, if the price is with in reason.

I know, I know........we've heard the phrase "I can get pistons" before but Brad's is right. We spoke with a very, very reputable source at the HOF. From what I've been told they won't be cheap but will be available. Brad, take the lead and get your Dator pistons and then we'll go from there. Kenny Heins call me!!!

Just out of curiosity, why can't you get Wiseco Dator pistons from Larry? Doesn't he still have a bunch? I'm all for more repops especially 340S and 295S. I was just curious as to the reason.

I would be in for 3 sets of standards size...... Keep us informed please. I,m sure they wont be cheap as nothing about these Dators are.

I do have a repoped standard and a .10 over that could be used..I think Larry only has .40 and .50 overs. Your cylinders have to be in pretty bad shape to need these and thats why he still has them.

I thought Larry had 20s and 40s. Brian, you got some from him recently, do you know what he has? I thought I'd see him today but he wasn't at the local show we were at near his home.

Before you pay big bucks to get some repopped, you should give him a call.

Last time I talked to him, which was only a month or two ago, he for sure had .20s and .40s. I believe that he may have had .30s but I'm not positive. I assume that all the standard bores are gone though. To me I guess I just don't understand the point of repopping them again when there's already a Wiseco repop. I bet Larry would have more made if there was an interest. If anybody were to repop them again though, the most important thing to try to do is get .10 overs made. Wiseco wasn't able to make them when the first set were made because apparently they didn't have the right size ring. Maybe that's changed now though I'm not sure.

This is my first time searching for such an item so if there are some readily available yet that is great. I would prefer std bore. And does any one know if the wisecos that are out there are a forged or cast piston? All of the info is great thanks guys. I will also be getting a hold of cometic in a few weeks for some more gaskets anyone else need any made not sure if i can get a better price on a higher quantity.

Hey guys I just thought I'd update you on the piston situation. I talked to Larry today and he said that he has some .20 overs and .40 overs left. Unfortunately all the standard bore are gone, but Larry said he'd be interested in making another run of standards if there is enough interest from you guys. I found out a little more info on the sizes of the pistons as well. Apparently Wiseco only makes rings for these pistons in .20 increments; hence why the .20 and .40. I don't know why they do that but that's why there isn't a repop .10 over yet. If there were to be a new piston made, I'd say don't waste the time making the same ones over again, just try to find someplace that could make a .10 over. I did want to mention also for those of you who may not know, that the wrist pin bearings are also an issue that needs to be considered if pistons are going to be made again. I know some people were under the impression that they were repoped with the pistons or bought from Wiseco, but unfortunately that is not the case. According to Larry, he found the bearings that he used for the repops from some bearing shop in a little town. They had a box of NOS bearings that were the right size and Larry bought them all. Unfortunately though the bearings are all used up with the repop sets he's selling and also they are now obsolete so we're kinda back to square one again. If we ended up just getting them repoped it may be a good chance to also do the elusive lower rod bearing that so many people are needing lately. It's just a thought. By the way I have an extra lower rod bearing that I would be willing to let someone use if they wanted to repop them. I would do it, but I just don't have the money laying around right now to do something like that.

That's one thing I'm not sure on. Other than a 19mm pin, I don't really know. Hopefully someone else that knows will chime in.
