I am looking for the front idler wheels for an 82 LF.
JD# AM55020
I do not need JD NOS, but anyone who has bought some, could you tell me where and what the numbers cross over to?
I am thinking DK has them as part # 0417, but not sure. It shows them as fitting a Trailfire but the JD#'s are the same as the LF's.
Thanks,
Bob

Bob, it should be the same front idler as the trails and sportfires. There is a listing on vintagesleds parting out an 82 sport now (might be listed here to now that I think about it). I replaced several bearings on these wheels this year with no issues.

Bob are you looking for the idlers between the rails or the ones outside the rails mid way on the skid ? The front idlers are not the 0417's ! I bought a set of idlers from MAtt and the centers are too thick ! you would have to trim the steel spacers that fit in between them and the rails . The front idlers measure 5" with a 5/8 shaft hole ! Your best bet is to find a nice set of used ones and replace the bearings ! The Bearing is a 99502H. The bearings are in stock @ New Breed snowmobile parts ! Hope this helps

They are the front ones that are between the rails. It appears that the track was out of alignment and maybe the clips, have worn the outer ring of rubber almost gone. Someone told me that they had bought some and they were a quick change replacement.

Bob they may have found an aftermarket replacement that will work ? That would be great to find out what the pn is or what other brand they fit ? Like I said Matt ordered these ones for me and everything is correct except the inside thickness ! I wish i could post pics but haven't got that one mastered yet ! If you want to text me i can send pics via cell phone ? 814-573-6970

Rob, didn't we try another part number too? Or did we never get around to that?

I think this is what the aftermarket companies want you to do. Several years ago I replaced a set. The inner bearing race was larger and the wheels came with the plastic insert to adapt it to the shaft size. I had to make new shorter spacers.
On my second sled a prevoius owner had done exactly the same thing.
I don't have my old reciepts handy to verify the parts that I used at the moment, but I 'll agree I'd try to find an old pair and replace the bearings. I like to keep them as origional as possible.

I don't see anything in the catalog that's close to 5" with the 99502H bearing. Closest is like 5.6". Does the 99502H fit in the new 5" wheel you got? I could just get them and switch out the bearings.jdrob wrote:Matt we were headed in that direction to find a narrower center but, never got back to it ! I don't think i sent you the dimensions !

Re: WTB - 82 Liquifire front idler wheels
Matt Like Nick mentioned above the have a different set-up ! They have a large bearing then a plastic insert that reduces it down to the 5/8 shaft size ! Down fall to that is the plastic will not last even close to what the original bearing would ! Matt i will send you pics tomorrow so you can see what the inside of the new idler looks like !

That's OK, I know what the plastic inserts look like.
