Re: wanted 1979 trailfire 440 fan belt
The Trailfire belt is a metric size: 10mm X 610mm. It's a good idea to replace it if it's old or you just got the sled and don't know how old it is. Cheap insurance against overheating. I'm told it is a Dayco number 3L 240. A fan holding tool makes changing the belt easier if you can find or borrow one. Check out the fan bearings as well when you have the belt off. 50:1 is the fuel/oil mix. Speaking of things you should be replacing, don't forget the crank seals. If you don't know how old they are, new ones are cheap and can save you a meltdown.

Sorry - I just sold the last belt I had, and the supplier says that number is no longer available. Need to find a different replacement.

where can i get a extra key for this sled looks like a jd tractor key
Re: wanted 1979 trailfire 440 fan belt
The keys are used on a lot of other equipment, both JD and other makes. You should be able to get another at your local JD dealer. The part number is M40718.
