Standard Dator pistons <for sale>

Post by I500 »

Standard Dator pistons now being ordered. Just wanted to let everybody know that Larry has once again decided to help us out and have this ordered thru Wiseco. I am involved as i had agreed to purchase any remainder of the pistons to see this order thru. I make nothing from order. Pistons are to be standard size and may or may not have upper needle bearings included. Looks like he has found a supplier and the odds are great that they will be included. Last time the cost was roughly $100 each so expecting a little more but thats Larry,s call not mine. Discussed with Larry that 25 sets is a good starting number. Also discussed additional ring sets and this will be an option.............. I,m copying Kennys format as i thought it was a great way to take orders. Looking to keep your Dator running now is the time to speak up . More orders the cheaper the price.

Please post on this thread with your intention. Thank You

If I am measuring right, I will need 1 set of standard pistons. I might go with another set of pistons or an extra set of rings depending on price. Let me know Thanks Bill

I'll take one set "just in case"... Sure wish someone would do the same for 340/S (and 295/S) pistons.

Just in case is a very good idea.... One day you might find that elusive Dator and discover the pistons are shot. Guess what? Remember that set you bought just in case?. It just paid off. These pistons are good bargaining stock for the guys that didnt want to spend the money now.

The more pistons we sell now the cheaper the cost for all. Would be great to get this order up to 36 sets

If somebody else wants to go after the 340/s and 295/s that would be great. Looked at the thread about these pistons in the race section and it was crazy expensive to re-tool.
or we can talk to Larry as he has a great contact person at Wiseco.

Anybody??????????????????????????

We've went round and round on the 340/S piston re-pop. So far, we haven't figured out how to get it done without losing our arses. No one has ever even considered making anything, breaking even would be a huge success!

I would love to know how Larry got this done in the first place. When the dust settles on this deal, perhaps Larry can be persuaded to share how he got this done?

I've talked to Larry about how he got it done and from the sounds of it he didn't exactly get the deal of the life time on them or anything. When I talked to him about them he told me the reason he got them done was because he has 3 Liquidators with stuck motors that he's hoping to restore someday and he needed pistons so he made them. Fortunately enough for us, he decided to be awesome and pay for the expensive tooling and now we're all reaping the benefits of it. Who knows how long it could've taken if he hadn't done that. All of us Liquidator guys really owe Larry for doing this for us.
