Re: JD Snowmobile Book
Joe and others,
I got all 16 pages and they are great.
The text has been re-written and there's over 70,000 words. Ron Leonard has done most of the text and I think you will be surprised how much of the total story we were able to capture. I did most of the technical development of the drive systems, the Trailfire, the 102C and other stuff. It's about the total experience including why snowmobiles, how it happened, who was involved and I'm sure we didn't get everyone, the results, the racing, the factory and what did snowmobiles do for Horicon and for Deere and other interesting stuff.
I'm in the process of adding all of the photos, documents, articles and other stuff to the words. It's time consuming but necessary to get the pictures in the right place and the story told. It will be as correct as we can possibly make it.
Deere has given us approval to use all of the engineering documents and other stuff.
It will still be a while until it's published but keep the faith.

Mr. Teal,
Thanks so much for taking on the large task of producting a book on the John Deere Snowmobiles and history. Producing a book is a LOT of work and we appreciate your efforts greatly!

Ed,
Thanks for the update on a book we are no doubt eagerly awaiting. Gives us one more winter until the book drives up prices of our favorite sleds, LOL! Personally I can't wait to see it!
Thanks,

Re: JD Snowmobile Book
Matt,
I sent you those MPG copies from the Snow Goer mags where the Trailfire LX won. 80 something era.
The Liquifire did pretty well for performance sled category as I remember also.
I was "Traildeere" or something 3 names ago. (Back when it was Joe & Matt's JD web page).
8 years ago? More?
Any way...Not sure about copyright infring. but that was some pretty cool data.
Wouldn't mind at least seeing some type of info from that in the book.
It may explain why the 79 Trailfire was STEEL & bring together the whole 80's mentality
before no one cared about that. I could find it again if anyone cares?
Just my input.
Later,
-Den

Re: JD Snowmobile Book
Sorry, maybe I should have adressed that to Dick Teal.
If you would like any of that info, just let me know.
I have all the photo copies on an external drive.
Of course, either way, I'll be ordering a copy as well.
Thank you for the great effort!
