I have a NOS AM55206 hitch plate available, as you've indicated. Again, that number is just the hitch plate. Or, I can combine the hitch plate with a NOS M63247 Pin, NOS AM55206 Heavy Duty Hitch Tongue (double), and NOS Hitch Pin.

I also have the complete NOS AM55207 Heavy Duty Hitch Kit with the heavy duty double hitch tongue.

Also available is a used chain case and cover. I have a used standard hitch with single tongue in good condition.

Tasky,
If I could find some nice shiny brackets to go with that backrest I'd take it! We need to find someone who does chrome work!

Bob,
Thanks for the offer. I'm parting out an 82 sport too. There would be no way of knowing if your sled has what I'm looking for because these parts are options. The only way to know for sure is to visually verify.

Re: Chain case guard wanted

Post by liquitisplit80 »

I am still looking for the chain case guard. P.N.AM55333, item 23 in the diagram. If any body has one please let me know. Even if you dont want to sell it, perhaps you could give the dimensions and post a pic of it. Even a verbal description from someone who used to have one or knows what it looks like would help. What gauge of metal was used, how wide was it, what holes in the chassis did it bolt to, etc... as I will try to make one. This is the last item I need for my build. Any help would be appreciated!

@liquitisplit80 , the chain case guard mounts to the chain case mounting bolts and is the width of the case, not the case and cover.I know I have atleast one NOS one but may be sometime before I dig it out.I cant sell that one to you but I have one on the 340 Special im working on and if that ones still ok i'll sell that one.

Deere Daze,
Thanks for responding. I'm glad to know you are working on a Canadian Special too! Mine's not the real deal, just wanted to make a replica to let people know that they were made and what they looked like. I have lots of questions about this sled, want to make it as close to an original as possible so any pics and advise would be welcome. I also contacted the John Deere Archives in Moline, still waiting to hear from them.
Thanks again.
