Don,
At a quick count, that puts the number of engines in the range of 50 (+/-). There certainly are more out there though...

I'd bet there are double that. In the 100 range at least.

Re: 340/S Count
I have one
Firehammer has one
That would be 2 for sure in Horicon .... not sure what Braze has?
As long as we are talking 340/S ...... I brought this topic up years ago and didn't get much mileage out of it. The topic I am talking about
is ... How many of you have or have seen a 340/S without a serial number on it ?????????? I personally owned one and have seen 3 others.
Has anyone else seen this?
Joe

Re: 340/S Count
Hi Guys,
Aside from the ones I have, a few friends have them also:
1 -309 mile original in Caledonia
2 of them in the Buffalo area
1- NY I-500 racer in total need of resto, still trying to close the deal on that one.
Wanie: The 340/s tunnel I got from you years ago did not have a serial number. I traded it to Jesse for one with a serial number so I could register it after the restoration.

Re: 340/S Count
I've not seen one without a serial number but I'm not surprised. JD did a good job of making sure the racers had plenty of parts and I'm sure that includes tunnels.
