At What Point....

Post by JD600 »

At what point do you realize that you have a problem? These photos were taken yesterday as Brock and i moved a few sleds into our "Central Storage Warehouse". We have counted up in the past and between the 2 of us, the sleds in these pics represent about one third of our collective... umm... lets call it a "collection". As far as a problem, our only problem is that we are quickly running out of storage... Enjoy fellow addicts.

I have three garages full of sleds. Most are now restored and I don't know what to do with them all. Believe it or not, I have sold a bunch of them as well already.

I have stuff stashed in 5 garages in 2 states. It's part of the disease or we're all investors just hedging the market for the big turn in the economy when the Vintage Sled Market goes through the roof!

You think you guys have a problem. Yesterday I was putting sleds in one of my new sheds and I quit counting at 54. Thats not including the 12 or so in the boneyard and the 5 I bought last month that I haven't picked up yet.

Dusty, you and Brock have been to my place. I have no advice for you. Hell, I even have the "Texas Twins" in my garage in Fort Worth.

Be brave, buy pallet racking.

Dustin,
Let's all be honest here, you guys call it collecting, but it's actually called Pathological Collecting. Read the definition below and see if some of it, most of it, or all of it fits.

Compulsive hoarding (or pathological collecting) is a pattern of behavior that is characterized by the excessive acquisition of and inability or unwillingness to discard large quantities of objects that would seemingly qualify as useless or without value.[1] Compulsive hoarding behavior has been associated with health risks, impaired functioning, economic burden, and adverse effects on friends and family members.[2] When clinically significant enough to impair functioning, hoarding can prevent typical uses of space so as to limit activities such as cooking, cleaning, moving through the house, and sleeping. It can also be dangerous if it puts the individual or others at risk for fire, falling, poor sanitation, and other health concerns.[3]

I don't qualify, as I only have the 4 sleds listed below.
