KEC 440 No spark

Post by Fighter-of-Wars »

Okay, so I bought this 1976 John Deere 440 Liquifire for the motor, the sled ran great, started first pull, all the lights worked was wicked fast for an older sled.

After I pulled the motor and got it all set up on in it's new home (honda odyssey) I got it all ready to start. Pulled it a couple times and it started sputtering and died. It did this a few more times and now no spark whatsoever. Now I will say that when putting coolant in the engine I had the black plastic cover off the side and some coolant may have run down behind the flywheel. My fear is, that it messed up the stator behind it. I just wondered if there was anything I could test before I start pulling stuff apart.

I would say pull the flywheel using a steering wheel puller with hardened bolts and dry everything off. Also, check this out.
