WTB Shock AM54745

Looking for a shock AM54745. This should fit Trailfire and Sportfire sleds. NOS preferred, or a good working shock that isn't leaking will work. Shipping to 48131.

Ehh, that project never made it out of the testing phase. Due to our lack of snow, none of the sleds ever went out this year. Once the R&D is completed on this, we will share the results.

I still need stroke lengths (extended and compressed) on Sportys, Spittys, Sprints. A gas charged re-buildable shock could be the last shock you buy for a vintage sled. (riders obviously, sorry to hijack the post) There are plenty of them out there used and some can even be altered for custom fitment!

Here is my attempt at finding a, budget minded, replacement for shock #AM54745, please step in and correct me if I am wrong on the dimensions. Based on Kenny's thread the original dimensions of this shock are 12" extended, 8 1/4" closed, and 7/16 eye openings. The below shock is a Kimpex hydraulic shock that fits some Yamaha sleds (see below), and it is an almost exact match. The dimensions of this shock, Kimpex part #272808 are, 12" extended, 8" closed and 7/16" eye openings. It's a 1/4" shorter on the closed side, but that should be fine. The only issue, and it's a minor one, is the one end will need to be trimmed to fit between the mounts, see pic. The great thing is these fit one of their current models, which means they are still available, and they are not too expensive, about $30.00 online. It's not going to give me the ride of a gas shock, but it doesn't cost $200 either. I will see if I can get this installed this week, to verify the fit. Next up will be shocks for the ski's.

Digging up an older topic here because I'm trying to figure out a part number for shock that will work on a Sportfire. The P/N Terre listed above doesn't seem to exist, at least not any more. I found number 08-3201 which seems to be the same shock.

I also found what is supposed to be a gas shock or the Yamahas listed above which is SU-04039 or 120181. I can't find specific dimensions on it though. It's discontinued but my supplier has a couple left so I'm going to order and see for if it works.

Overall open length: 11"
Shaft size with rubber bushing: 7/16" (bolt)
Shaft size w/out bushing: 7/8" (aluminum shaft with roll pins)

I have been using the front ski shocks from the yamahas in my trailfires. I realize its not the heaviest of shocks but it fits with minor modification. I am not a light fellow at all and have not been easy on it. Its been in for 5 years now, 1500 miles. Shows no sign of leakage. Hope this helps. It is 8" closed 12" extended.
