Custom 83 Liquifire

Post by JoeRainville »

Hi Guys,

I started a new project this spring starting from some junk 83 Liquifire's. We literally pulled two junkers out of a boneyard that were pretty much scrap.

Image

This is the better of the two, but the bulkhead was just junk, and there were lots of extra holes in the tunnel. There were lots of usable parts pulled from this hulk, but even the suspension was junk and the track wouldn't hold up on a 340 Trailfire.

This one below was so bad, Watersboy and I did not think it was salvageable, but kept it out behind his shed because the bumper was OK and tunnel was straight. This doner chassis was hacked up to fit a JLO fanner in it, but the aluminum tunnel was near perfect.

I gave the two bulkheads to my friend Jeff Webber, and he was able to make one from the two:

The first bulkhead was only good for parts to repair and modify the second one. It hit something so hard it put a huge hole in the bottom of the pan and bent the cross brace:

I had already sent a crank out to Jerome, which came back looking like new after he replaced the PTO end of it:

And while Jeff was working on the bulkhead, I used a chassis purchase from Sean Motter of the Amber Clan for fit up of the new motor:

While in NY over the July 27th-29th weekend, I was able to bead blast the head and crank case. My aftermarket gaskets and pistons also came in with rings compatable with nicasil. Over my next weekend in NY, the jugs will be sent out to Millenium Tech to be coated.
