For Sale 1981 John Deere Spitfire

Post by IdahoCarol »

I have a 1981 John Deere Spitfire for sale. I am the original owner. My sister & I purchased identical new 1981 John Deere Spitfires in the fall of 1980. I have the owner's manual. The sled has 1517 miles on it. $550.

I know I purchased the John Deere Spitfire in the fall/winter 1980 because of photos I have. I wrote (a long time ago) 1981 on my manual . Other than that I have no documentation. I just looked at the manufactured date which says built 7-80. So it probably is a 1980!! By the way, I purchased the Spitfire in Ohio!! Any advice on what I should be asking for the sled!!! Thanks!!!

Idahocarol the build date is correct for an 81' model. Deere always staggered a year. Example if it were an 80' build date would be ? / 79. It confuses a bunch of people but thats how it is. It appears to be in very nice shape, and I really think your in the "ball park" with price. like mentioned before you are very far out and shipping back east is not cheap. :bonk: maybe you can find a member out your way that needs it for their collection or advertise it on the vintage site ! Good luck, those spitty's are a bunch of fun ! :usa:

It's an 81. Check out the "sunburst" decal in front of the exposed head.
