Someone probably privately offered $1500-$2000, and by taking the offer and canceling the auction, then seller doesn't have to pay the ebay final value fees.

Either way that price just out there man. When you see what a complete restored sled sells for.....$6Kish.
Then consider the tank is most hidden by the seat.

That my $ .02 worth.

I do not mean to downplay someone's money to purchase this very rare piece of Liquidator history.

But is there really any reason these could not be reproduced like Kenny did with the airbox?

Just something I thought I would throw out there. I know I would be interested in a reproduced one if the price was similar to what Kenny did the airboxes for.

Sure they could be reproduced, and it has been talked about.

I don't know if it ever will be, the demand is going to be limited, and it is really going to PO the folks that have paid big money for one. A filler neck in the back of the seat pretty much fills the need.

Not everything needs to be reproduced. This is one of those items.

Personaly i dont mind if everything was reproduced. I would be able to glue my butt to the couch and have somebody else do the leg work for me. When i need it i just go buy the item. No more countless hours going thru garbage cans or bad swapmeets. It should be all about me. :lol22:

I am kind of with Chuck on this one. I didn't hear any complaints when I reproduced the Dator lite hoods after I purchased an NOS one to lift a mold from. But, I did catch hell from some former friends for a stupid sticker. Makes you wonder if all the time and money invested is worth it...but it might be time to find out.

On thing that did stop me in my tracks was when Grumpy told me the original gets cut up to make the mold, as I only have one of them at the moment...

Joe your hood are great!! Great repro for sure and a fair $.

Rear tanks...? I know NOS is cool ..it's an original never used old part.
I know most guys here taking on these repro's do it more for the love of hobby and help out others then making huge dollars.

Then the repro's help us restore. But in the big pix, it's gotta be for the a realistic price for buyer on re-done parts
and not a huge headache for guy doing the re-pop project and become a big pain in the ass and lose your $hirt. :bonk:

This rear tank project would be more like testicle surgery. :shifty:
