I've got a few little things to add, and the recoil has an appointment with some "Blitz Black", but it's pretty much shaping up.

The case and intake were soda blasted. The fan tower was soda blasted, but it didn't clean up as well as the case, so I cleaned it up further with 400 grit sandpaper, and then polished it, but didn't go really nuts. The shroud was sanded down smooth ( not all paint was removed ) primed, sanded, then painted with Case-IH wheel silver.
The coil cover is NOS, as is the fan guard. The recoil was stripped bare ( as in the photo ) then shot with Blitz Black.

A few more parts to add, then I'm going to have to have help carrying the thing up out of the basement!
I carried it down there in pieces.

Brian,

Bring the rest of the sled down there for re-assembly. Then you can just ride it out...

Nice looking fan cover, I used to have one just like it.

Joe,

Now the question is, do you have the correct SILVER fan cover for a 440/22 or am i going to have to paint one off of a cyclone for my 800?

Just about there.

The parts book shows a clip for the plug wires, but neither of my '72 engines have it. I installed the plastic wire loom off a '73 X8. Anyone have a source for these?

The coil boots came from O-Reillys at around $.50 ea., and those are NOS Kioritz plug caps.

And yes, that is an NOS Salsbury clutch in the back ground.

Brian, if we got tired of seeing cool stuff like this I don’t think we would be hanging out on this website!

Looking very nice, do you ever plan on riding this sled when it's done or is there a spot in the livingroom saved for it?

Beautiful! I for one never get tired of seeing pictures of stuff like this.
Old sleds are hours of entertainment.... then you get to ride them for a little bit.
