Happened on two sled deals this year for me. Both times I was on my way...pulling the trailer when I get the call..."sorry but just sold the sled" :bonk:

Both times before I left...I asked the sellers if they would sell the sleds before I arrived. Of course they said "no"

Very aggravating to say the least!

That's just ridiculous. I can understand them selling the sled to someone else if you had told him you were coming in a week, but if you called to say you're on the way over, these people need a punch in the face.

I agree with Joe and Chuck. A few years ago I had a deal made on a 340/s over the phone that turned out for me. It was listed on Vintage Sleds Classifieds. Jesse called me about it and I ended up being the first caller. I couldn't pick it up for almost a week and even though the seller had offers for more than what he listed it for he held it for me. He called me to tell me he had a list of 12 buyers if I didn't show up so I wasn't a minute late. Great guy, we still keep in touch. I also bought a 82 Liquifire from him later and sold him a track for his JDX8.

I think we all have had some bad experiences when it comes to purchasing and then arranging time to actually pick up the sled.

I myself this year made a deal to purchase a Apex in northern Wisconsin. I asked if he would like the money up front or a down payment and he said it was not necessary and just like they all do “seemed like a nice guy” well on the way I call and say I will be there in a couple of hours …….He say’s…..Sorry but I don’t want to sell it!…….what can you do!
Also I drove out fer a "cherry" 82 Sprintfire....and well .......I wrote about that.

But on the other hand …..I bought a sled from a member here (Jack Frost ) and he actually walked it across the border for me to meet MR. Rainville ……and wouldn’t take anything for the extra work!…………..By the way…..Thank you both!
I have become friends with some people I have purchased from and they made the drive and experience a wonderful time.

I can only say something my father used to say “most of the people in this world are good People ……….It’s the few that disappoint you and make you become jaded ……don’t let the few let you become jaded!”
