Being a fan conversion I would lean more towards a scorpion motor. They came from the factory with f/a conversions in 71. I don't know if any other manufactures cut down fans into free airs but scorpion did. Can you post a pic of the intakes?

A little history for you, from the 72-74 model years, Deere used CCW motors that were built by Kirotz of Japan. Starting with the 74 295/s until 78, Deere purchased motors directly from Kiortz for most of their sleds. The Kohler powered 73 JDX-4, the 74-77 Model 300 and the 78-79 Spitfires were exceptions.

If your motor is a factory CCW 340cc Free Air, it was never used factory in a Deere sled. I believe Skiroule, Scorpion and others used that motor around 71 or so in their high performance sleds like the 71 RTX racer. If the motor was converted to a FA it could be anything. The Deere 340 RS/2 was a fan cooled, CDI ignition motor, not points.

you right it says imported for ccw made by kyoritso thats how it is spelled I will send e mail with pics to your address thanks for info

Hello Dave,

I took a look at your pic's, and you look to have an original 340 RS FA motor. This is not a Deere engine, but probably a one of the other makes we mentioned. It does look NOS (New Old Stock) and appears to never have been run.

Note that if you were to run it, you should replace the outer crank seals at the very least, but I would suggest a full tear down and send out the crank to have the inner seals replaced.

thanks I will do something with it someday I have another one also slightly used I have to many sleds to work on now trying to get 4 different classes in order got 77 txl 340 77 tx 340 77 tx 250 and 96 xlt 600trip pol for ifs class in the 98 and older 600 cc limit
