Joe, no, it is in very good original condition. I am tearing it down to get a good detail cleaning, replace crank seals and bearings, and replace anything that is damaged (ie. seat windshield tail light). I just want to try and use nos parts since it needs very little and just being the last one.

I am still debating fixing the crack in the side of the hood or just leaving it as is original. I think I can replace the wood on the seat and use it for a while, but it has a few small cracks in it.

Greg ....... I was hoping that is what you are going to do. You were asking about decals and new parts and it is all taken apart and I figured a
complete restoration is what is taking place. They are original one time only. Everyone has different opinions what should and should not be done
on sleds like this and yours is the only one that matters. In my opinion you are doing the right thing and I am glad this is the direction you are going.
Good luck!

The only decal that I need is the leaping deer on the left side of the hood where it is cracked. That is, if I fix it.

Well, after a long and busy summer, I have finally found a couple days to start putting this back together.
I was going to try not stripping and painting anything. I tried a rust converter from farm and fleet just to have the stuff rust again after a couple weeks. So I cleaned the suspension and painted it. It will get assembled and installed tomorrow. The skis are also being painted since they were badly rusted from sitting on concrete for many years. I am hoping to get the crank seals in the motor this week and get it installed.

One of the ski shocks is junk, so I am looking for one of those. I will put an ad in the classifieds. :bonk:

All I have left to do is bolt the suspension back in, paint the ski shocks and clutch cover and install and finish the wood on the seat. Oh, and put the windshield on. I'm sure I will find some more things to button up.
Put fuel in and test fired it today. Runs good!! Almost ready to show it off. :needsnow:

Well, all that is left is to polish her up a bit (my least favorite part.)
I put the new gasket in the carb, cleaned up the belt guard and painted and installed the ski shocks. A couple weeks ago I put new wood and hardware on the original seat cover.
When the wind dies down I am gonna take her on her maiden voyage!! We will see how she runs!
