Well said Dave!!
I hadn't thought about it like that. But your exactly right.
It is rare that my 76 340 Liquifire needs two pulls to start it. My 81 Liquifire can be frustrating. It seems to me that Invader's are less temperamental. not sure why.
Even though the 80+ Liquifire's require more fiddling around. Given the choice I would rather ride an 80+ than a 76-78
Early or late model Liquifire 440 a better machine to build?

I have 3 of the 80+ LF's and love em!!! My 81 was a bit frustrating but the hsr swap cleared up any starting issues. I feel that the old models seem to handle a bit better but the newer ones (80-84) just plain rip!!! Bottom line they are both old models and require attention.

Have not had the same experience with my Invader, it seems pretty finicky too.ljm wrote:It seems to me that Invader's are less temperamental. not sure why.

Love this analogy!JDCornFlakes wrote:From lots of relationship experience ....
The 1980-81's are like dating relationship with a moody bitchy parnicky smoking hot girlfriend. If things are not setup just right she will not be pleased and will not want to get going.
Then you spend lots of money on things trying to make her happy. You spend hours and hours alone with her trying to make her happy to just perform satisfactorily just a little bit .
But when you finally get her to put out for you and she is performing well and your flying at 85mph across that lake.
You kinda forget about all the headache and grief she put you through for that moment.
The 78 is better one to go steady with.

FYI, I like the 78 LF 440 for a rider (with the Arctic rubber track conversion). Then I have a 82 LF that when it is on, it's a blast!
So to solve this problem just have one each of a 78 LF and a HSRI Kaw LF (very late 81(a model) to 84 model years). Two sleds don't take up much more room that one. (-:
