Mono Ski

Post by Liquifire 4/6 »

This is the only pic I could find of it on the snow. This was taken a day or so after I finished restoring it and I hadn't yet put the track shield in place. The track is just a #35 roller chain with 21 rubber paddles bonded to every third or fourth link. This shot was taken at a vintage derby and believe it or not, it wasn't the slowest sled there. I blew by a Sno Cruiser like he was standing still ( ok, maybe he was) and passed at least one Ski Doo Elan. And yep, I am a little big for the Sno Runner.

Looks like a fun little toy.

I'll have to see if the one is still for sale and go check it out.

Took a look at it this weekend. Looks to be in pretty good shape. Needs some fuel line and fuel check valve. The seat was starting to fray along the bottom edges.

Said he wanted $300.00 for it. Is that a fair price?

Three hundred sounds very fair considering how you describe it. Things to look out for are the track and the rewind starter. The tracks are still available and comparitively cheap. The recoils on these engines are absolutely unreliable....parts are available for them, but very expensive. Also, if you weigh more than a hundred pounds, be sure to order and install a track frame brace kit...otherwise the track will derail over every little bump you hit and the track suffers each time it comes off of the sprocket. If you need info on where to order parts, let me know and I'll dig up some details. Oh yeah, it'll likely need a carb rebuild kit. It's a Tillotsen HL carb and like any Tilly, they need frequent attention.

Yeah might be a little while before I have $300.00 to spend on something like that. I dont think he will be selling it anytime soon. Maybe when I get the extra funds it will still be for sale!
