Ok have to ask which spark system you have points or cdi? So far it sounds like bad connection around voltage regulator either bad ground(black) or not hooked in to voltage circuit (yellow).

Which type of voltage regulator do you have the little black box with single yellow wire or the aluminum box with a yellow and black wire? aluminum box btw that black wire should be grounded to frame.

We went though the fuel pump on the carb and its good. But the pulse line dose act a little weak to me. How hard should it pulse  ? I'll clean the tank pickup, check compression, and put in new crank seals. I'm leaving on a U.P. trip on Sunday :beers; and I'll be back here on Thursday. So I'll work on it when I get back.

How do you tell if it has points or CDI  ? The regulater is the little black box with one yellow wire.

cdi would have a ugly looking box near carb with wires going to the engine and coils. points is just nice wires to connecter and coils.

I have a box on the firewall that says Presto-lite. It must be the CDI type. :?:
