WOW! What a GREAT day is all I have to say and I can't remember when I had such a good time working on a project like this!! I now have a new respect for you restorer-type guys who work so hard to breathe life back into an abandoned sled that someone else sees as junk. I found out today first-hand...it's VERY gratifying to see the completed project after all that heart and soul from everyone put into it!
When DA and I first began talking about this project back in June, we never thought in a million years that it would had came out so well in the end like it has! This project has truly exceeded our expectations and on behalf of DA and myself~ words can't express enough our deepest thanks to all those folks who have donated money, parts, services, time, support or anything else that made this project a reality. THANK YOU!
Everyone arrived on-time this morning (except for Bob, but hey, what can we expect from him anyway...really.....

) and everyone worked very well together, as they told all sorts of sledding stories throughout the day as they worked along. Kevin, Dan and Roger did most of the sled chassis/suspension/steering assembly, while DA, Bob and I did the sub-assembly, bead blasting, painting parts, component fitting, drivetrain work, etc. in the background to keep the project moving along.
Then, after the engine was dropped in, everyone helped in getting the wiring, fuel system, exhaust system, clutch alignment, hood fitted, console installed and any other periphreal components installed before she was ready to fire for the first time. You'd of thought we had all worked together before, it went so smoothly and everyone just "knew what to do". Dan mentioned that you would have thought we were at Horicon, so someone dubbed the shop's new name, "Little Horicon".
I must say, I was very impressed by the calibur of people that came today to help build this thing and if even one of them were missing there today, we would have NOT gotten this thing done so smoothly like we had. I mean, these guy's are a real pleasure to work with and I feel honored to have gotten the chance to work beside them on this project. I learned a lot from everyone and I would HIGHLY recommend any of them to anyone for their knowledge, personability and expertise in a project like this. Truly professionals and just plain "nice guys" to boot, so my hat's off to you gents!
A special thanks to my wife Jenny and my daughter Hanna who kept us fed and our thirsts quenched thoughout the day with breakfast, lunch, coffee and drinks- Thank you!!
Well, enough of that mushy crap....let's get to the good stuff shall we?! I have over 100 photos of the project as we progressed along and a final short video of the sled as we fired it for the first time. I'll post as many of the pics as I can and I'll post a link to the YouTube video at the end here, so you all can see how awesome this sled turned out.
This sled just flat looks AWESOME and the pictures DO NOT do it justice!! If you have the chance to see it up close at any of the upcoming sled shows where it will be, I HIGHLY suggest that you take a minute to see it up close... It'll bring a tear to your eye!
Thanks for the memories guys and for allowing me to take part in this....it means a lot to me.
Enjoy the photos and the video!
