May I suggest trying the CDI to see if you can get it to start and run properly. Then once that mountain is crossed then start modding it.
You may have a sled that is running altogether differnt with milling heads and changing timing.
When drag racing cars you normally try 1 thing at a time...so you are sure what it did to improve or hurt car's performance. If change 7 things and car runs better maybe 4 helped and 3 hurt performance.
Also if sleds runs poorly then have to start looking to what is the issue from all changes, then start back tracking.
Just my little mind's thoughts....
