Mike. The hood decals are the same but not the tunnels. The sled under the cover in the prototype section of this site has 82 tunnel graphics, that is probably the one at Waconia.
Re: IFS DEERE AT WACONIA
If this sled has been stored in a warehouse for all these years, the other IFS sleds should be there also? Looks like the sled spent some time outside at some point in time.

Re: IFS DEERE AT WACONIA
It's an '82 chassis with an '81 hood; typical prototype stuff, but all good.

Re: IFS DEERE AT WACONIA
Lady behind the table was kind enough to take the one over the hood showing the engine for me.

Polaris has had it in storage along with other deere items from the buy out in the early 80's.

its great that it along with the other items didnt end up in the dumpster.
Re: IFS DEERE AT WACONIA
Hi Guys. Great to hear all went well. Its a little dis-heartening to see it in the condition its in, but on the other hand, so very glad its still in existance. Just my oppinion, but I think that sled belongs in a really special musium (but prettied up a bit first) Do you guys think Polaris would give it up and the other one aswell if we talked nice to them for everyone to enjoy?...Rob.

Re: IFS DEERE AT WACONIA
Money talks and from what I gathered we wont have enough to get this sled and all the others that they have. It would take someone with some very deep pockets aka Deere or the likes to get them out. Its a great idea and I am on board if there is something that I can do I am in. But chances are slim I would guess. Just my 2cts.

Re: IFS DEERE AT WACONIA
Lots more suspension and corresponding heavier skid frame. Knowing Deere, it's hard to tell how much of that would have made production all at once. The prototype Liquifire in 1979 had heavier skis that did not appear on production sleds. Deere US market skis were not heavy enough for a Liquifire, in my opinion.

Excellent Rob !!
In the pics, I am sure you asked or know rather, that black tank by the coolant overflow bottle, is that the oil tank?
If so, was it placed there for ease of ? No room?

Re: IFS DEERE AT WACONIA
As for liberating the sled from Polaris:
I've already heard the subject was discussed up in Waconia.
It would be nice to see the sled restored and sitting on display at perhaps the SHOF.
The question is of course: will Polaris let it go, and under what conditions?
I don't know if Rainville has enough silver tongued ability for this one, maybe Jon, Loren, and Larry Preston together can get it done.
