John Deere Sprintfire 1983. Long time project....

I know what you mean, the winter here has been bad.... we have snow, but not nearly as much as we usually have


Last saturday my daughter and I went out for some sleddin

She think that it's funny that my Sprintfire is smaller than the SRV I built for here

After some test driving I can just say that the sled runs great

I had to tighten up the track after a while and the drive belt squeals a little when it's warm. But just around engagement rpm.
I have no tool to check the alignment. So if anyone knows the dimension of the clutch alignment bar.... please share


The one thing I had to fix right away was the exhaust. It was way to loud.
The sound was no problem when riding the sled, but loud screaming exhausts aint popular with tourists on skis or people living close to the trails.

There are not much room for a muffler, but I got a idea how I could make the exhaust travel a bit longer and crushing the sound waves---



I cut the rear part of again. (Pic from when I rebuilt the exhaust first time)



Then I welded the holes and openings

Perfect sound level. Mild at low rpm:s and a bit more aggressive sound at WOT

This winter has been fantastic here in Sweden. Rideable snow since before christmas and still it's a few weeks left on the season, and that's amazing as I live in the southern parts of the snow belt. Up north they will still be sleddin for almost two month.

I have been on my sleds for about 1500 km now, and I hope I can get 300-500km more before the snow is gone here.

Sprintfire #1 has been out for about 250 km this winter. First the vintage sled rally in january, and this last weeks I have been out several times on the hard trails around here

It's a fun sled and I'm surprised that I can ride so much faster on bad trails with the Sprintfire compared to a Yamaha ET340
