URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MILWAUKEE/SULLIVAN WI
933 PM CST TUE DEC 18 2012
...SNOW EVENT WINDING DOWN IN SOUTH CENTRAL AND SOUTHEAST
WISCONSIN THIS EVENING...
...MAJOR WINTER STORM ON TAP FOR MUCH OF AREA WEDNESDAY NIGHT AND
THURSDAY...
A MAJOR WINTER STORM IS EXPECTED TO TAKE SHAPE OVER THE PANHANDLE
OF TEXAS ON WEDNESDAY...AND TRACK NORTHEAST INTO THE GREAT LAKES
REGION ON THURSDAY. THIS STORM HAS BEEN PROJECTED BY MANY OF OUR
LONG RANGE COMPUTER MODELS FOR THE PAST SEVERAL DAYS. CONFIDENCE
IS HIGH THAT THERE WILL BE A PARALYZING SNOW STORM IN THE WESTERN
GREAT LAKES REGION...WITH BLIZZARD OR NEAR BLIZZARD CONDITIONS
POSSIBLE.
THERE IS STILL SOME UNCERTAINTY ABOUT WHERE THAT HEAVY SNOW BAND
WILL SET UP BUT THE MOST LIKELY AREA WILL BE CENTERED WITHIN A
COUNTY OR SO OF A LINE FROM DARLINGTON TO MADISON...BEAVER DAM...
AND FOND DU LAC. THE PERIOD OF HEAVIEST SNOW WILL LIKELY ARRIVE
AFTER MIDNIGHT WEDNESDAY NIGHT...AND CONTINUE THROUGH THE DAY ON
THURSDAY...DIMINISHING FROM WEST TO EAST IN THE AFTERNOON.
STRONG NORTHWEST WINDS GUSTING TO 35 TO 45 MPH BY THURSDAY
AFTERNOON COULD CAUSE BLIZZARD CONDITIONS. THE PRIMARY
UNCERTAINTY WITH BLIZZARD CONDITIONS THURSDAY AFTERNOON AND
EVENING IS NEAR FREEZING TEMPERATURES AND HOW WET THE SNOW IS. A
WET SNOW WOULD REDUCE THE THREAT FOR BLIZZARD CONDITIONS...WHILE
A DRIER AND FLUFFY SNOW WOULD INCREASE THE THREAT FOR WHITEOUT
CONDITIONS.
IT APPEARS FAR SOUTHEAST WISCONSIN WILL SEE TOO MUCH WARM AIR
WRAP INTO THE AREA...AROUND THE INTENSE LOW...BRINGING THAT AREA
A BLEND OF RAIN...RAIN/SNOW...WITH A TRANSITION TO ALL SNOW
TOWARD THE END OF THE STORM. THUS TOTAL SNOWFALL IN THIS AREA
WILL BE A LOT LESS THAN FARTHER WEST.

Re: HOLY SNOW!!!!!
That's really cool that your daughter has an interest in the truck, I don't think either of my kids even know where the garage is. Even with all of my encouragement, they still don't want anything to do with it. So I say, keep the truck and enjoy the time you can spend together, they grow up really fast. I'm probably 2 years away from getting serious about finding one, but if the right one came along I would do what I needed to bring it home.cledussnow77 wrote:You may be right Terre, thats what my daughter keeps tellin me to, she has been wanting to start on it all summer. I told her maybe in the spring we could start on it. If she didn't want that truck so bad i may have made ya a deal on it, but if I sell it now she will string me up by my toes.
Snow predicted for this Friday, the weatherman said maybe enough to make a snowball or two. That's ok, I only have one sled ready to ride anyway.

Re: HOLY SNOW!!!!!
We are dead center in all this. Thunder snow as I write this.
* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...12 TO 18 INCHES. THUNDER-SNOW WITH RATES
OF 2 TO 3 INCHES PER HOUR MAY BRIEFLY OCCUR.
* WINDS...NORTHEAST 10 TO 20 MPH TONIGHT BECOMING NORTHWEST 20
TO 30 MPH ON THURSDAY...WITH GUSTS OF 35 TO 45 MPH.
* IMPACTS...TRAVEL BECOMING DIFFICULT LATE TONIGHT AND CONTINUING
THROUGH THURSDAY EVENING. SIGNIFICANT BLOWING AND DRIFTING
SNOW AND POTENTIAL FOR NEAR ZERO VISIBILITY...WHITEOUTS...AND
BLIZZARD CONDITIONS THURSDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING.

Re: HOLY SNOW!!!!!
We only got 4 or 5 inches. We're down to flurries and wind. Talked to a guy 1 hour to the west of us and they only got 2 inches. 1 hour southeast they got 12 inches. Well at least we can ride in the woods and our neighbors land. I'm so far behind I only have one sled up and running.

Re: HOLY SNOW!!!!!
It has pretty much lived up to the hype. 14+ inches on the ground and still snowing and blowing.Matt wrote:Is it the Snowpocalypse?
Power has been out twice. Been plowing and shoveling all day, and a long way yet to go.
Not really having all that much fun.

Re: HOLY SNOW!!!!!
Got about 12" here in the Dells area. Took a half day off work, fired up the ol' 212 with the blower and cleaned out the drive.(heavy wet snow made 'er grunt pretty good but she got the job done!!) Then took the 440 T/F out for a few miles on the trails. Was doing really good until my brake handle snapped off as I approached a stop! Hit the ditch and coasted across the road. Lucky for me no one was coming down the road and no one was hurt and nothing damaged.
