This I learned by running a dator without a tunnel cooler and with that cooler they would run 165. (dator & liquifire use same thermostat) I think my aftermarket guage came from autozone. It used the lower temp range compatable with a sled. The sled I put it in has been sold or i would post a pic.
I bought one of the digital ones that I posted. It starts at 104 red light comes on at 212 but keeps climbing, don't know the limit. I had it to 235.

Two things are needed to keep a LC sled in temp range.
Air flow through the radiator and snow on the cooler plate.

Running it on a stand in the shop will provide neither.
It will overheat.

A large fan in front of the sled and a garden hose running water over the cooler will do the trick for summer time testing.

Let me see if I understand this correctly............you took a perfectly good chrome trim ring and painted it black? What is this world coming to???? :bonk:

Here is the one I bought testing it on the bench. Red light comes on at 212 F. Checked it with the wife's cooking thermometer and it's right on.

Forgot to add that I found an adapter from 16 mm to 1/8 pipe from JEGGS for the sending unit.

Yeah that digital gauge is pretty sharp!

I just installed a $16 gauge from autozone. Installation was straight forward and it works!

The JD service manual for Kawasaki powered Liquifires indicates an operating temp of 108 degrees F. Translating the needle in the window over the color coded decal on the factory setup to actual degrees will require some very scientific wild a**ed guessing.

I tried hooking up a rectifier for a 12 vdc power source and all the smoke got out.
427Cobra which one did you get at Autozone? I was just there and they only had dc powered gauges!
I think I'll buy another and just use a battery to power it.

Just a Sunpro mechanical gauge. I think there were two versions....the gauge faces were different. But they both started at 100deg.
