I just dropped the sled off at the Saskatchewan Snowmobile Associations 2011 annual snowmobile show, which starts tomorrow. I was unable to fully complete the assembly, as I had to have the sled there by 4:00pm today. I will be returning tomorrow at 8:00am to complete the assembly, and the show starts tomorrow at 5:00pm.
I was unable to aquire the original 1972 400 console in time for the show, so I will be using the console and panels from a later model. I will be working on that tonight so that I can have it ready to install on the sled tomorrow morning. I am a little disapointed that I wont be using the original console for the show, as it is quite different from the later models. Hopefully I will find the correct console soon so that my restoration will be complete. I already have the original side panel and the top access door.

The show runs Fri, Sat, and Sun, and they expect about 15,000 people to come through the show. I will take pics at the show and post them tomorrow night. The sled looks amazing.

Bummer. Those 72 shrouding parts are very tough to get your hands on in nice shape.

Any of that shrouding is hard to find in good shape. Even to put together a decent used set is hard enough.

I have a 72 console that I have promised to Jeff. The problem is shipping is cost prohibitive for such a large item to Canada. I am in Duluth Mn and could drop off within a reasonable distance. My next big show to attend would be Waconia. Or I could even ship within the United States to get it closer to him. He is in Saskatoon Saskatchewan. Any ideas guys? This crossing the border shipping inflates the cost huge. The cheapest qoute to ship I have had is $175.00

I am still trying Jeff hang in there. TASKY

I am finally done!!!! :beers;

I want to Thank everyone on jdsleds for your help, encouragement and nice words over the last two years as I worked on my restoration. I appreciate those who stepped up to help me. Even when we lived in two different countries, that didnt stop you from doing what you could to help. That says a lot about the people on this website.

I also want to thank jdsleds.com for all that they do to keep the website alive, because without you It would have been next to impossible to complete this project. Networking is a lifesaver.

So here are the pics of the finished 1972 JD 400 sitting at the 2011 Saskatchewan Snowmobile Associations Annual Show.

You should be very proud of your hard work. I have no doubt it looks better than it did back in '72 on the showroom floor.
Congratulations on a project well done.

Super job!
Old sleds are hours of entertainment.... then you get to ride them for a little bit.
