Hello Deere guys..........that sounds like a yupper talking, ah ? (Uppers are folks from the Mich upper peninsula and day talk funny.....but have great snow up there)

Yes to the parking of trailers here at the SHOF in St. Germain. We have a large lot plowed on the east side of the new building (under construction) when you first come in the blvd. entry road. Remember we are about 1,500' into the beautiful dense woods and you do not see the buildings from Hwy 70. Our big 5th wheel show trailer is out by the road for this special occasion........you will not miss the flags flying on the rig and it is lighted up. Come down the long entry road and then back your trailers in against the tree line and leave room in back to get sleds out. Disconnect and do your thing. There are parking lot lights so after dark is no problem. Come on Monday if you want ! ! ! If you want electric plug-ins for "shops on wheels" or motor homes, come to the museum office on the west end of the complex and ask. One of the camping spots is taken but there are several other spots with electric hookups (30 amp if needed).

I am still working to get sales of Wisconsin permits at the breakfast. I think it is going to work out but not locked in yet. To be safe and make the early morning easier, get that done by internet if you can..... then you are ready to eat breakfast, meet the celebrities, take the group photo and ride baby ride. Also if you get the stickers early, you can put them on in your nice warm garages (heated by Modine HotDawg garage Heaters I hope)

Regarding gas stations, there is BP in downtown St. Germain one mile east on Hwy 70 and on the trail and Shell one mile west of SHOF on Hwy 70 and also on the trail running east and west thru the SHOF property. Both owners are supporters of the SHOF and both are BOBOEN CLUB ( our local snowmobile club) past presidents.

It is snowing as I write this.........it was so beautiful out I walked over to the office just to feel the flakes hitting my face. LIFE IS GOOD ! See you in a few weeks.........Loren 715 542-4488, hallfame@newnorth.net

P S The footage of the early JD Enduro racing is now running in the museum next to the famous #269 Brian Nelson Winn-St. Paul (1976) sled....how cool is that ! ! Brian's race bib, his leathers and his helmet are also in that display. Hey Brian....bring the trophy with you ! !

Loren ....... When we rode up there last year there was a station with pre mix in St Germaine. We were all pleasantly surprised by that. Not sure if it is still available but it was there.

Yes we have a very large outboard gas sales here because of our 3,000 lakes in the area so there is a lot of fishing so several stations still have mix. But for winter that gas is getting old.....as not many sledheads mix anymore and I would not buy the premix just to be safe.

You know Minnesota always brags about their 10,000 lakes. Well we have nearly 15,000 lakes and ours have fish in them! ! !

By the way, we are going to bring out some of our old JD sleds from storage and have them here for silent auction when you guys arrive Wed night.....bring those checkbooks. So far we have dug out a Liquifire and a JDX8. They need cleaning up but are not in too bad of shape.

See you in a couple of weeks.

Loren

some answers finally................Wisc DNR says all sleds must have WI trail permits if not registered here. $20.00 available at location about one mile from HOF at BP Marine in St. Germain. (good for 2 yrs however ! ! ) I can get some and have at breakfast but would have to pay for them and eat those not sold. Or if you drive car back to St. Germain to ride starting from SHOF, you go right past the BP station. Most are starting from the HOF and only going to and from Minocqua the lunch spot.

If sled is not registered in any other state a bigger problem. you have to go to DNR (closest office open that Thursday) is Rhinelander, 26 miles away to get this done if you do not have time left to do it by mail and or internet.

My Webpage

We are working to get vintage registration in this state but are too busy in Madison doing politically correct things like bashing Bush. You know what they say about our state capitol........25 square miles surounded by reality ! ! Our own law only recognizes antigue (1966 or older ) for the one time registration and it is for parades and occasional use etc etc.

Loren: THANKS for the update on trail permits. How bad are the trails? Chambers of C. & motels indicate OK to good, private non-commercial sources say lots of snirt with a bit snow in spots, lots of ice on corners. Which is factual?? Wish you were getting what we are getting farther south, 5 inches or so, SE Michigan.

jdGUY AND ALL OTHERS.... I made mistake on the $20.00 it is only $18.00 and is a one year permit meaning end of this season. The regular registrations for sleds in Wisc is $30.00 for two years.......but a large part goes to clubs for grooming, brushing and bridge building and the part the DNR keeps goes to enforcement and Admin. costs.

TRAILS ARE BEING GROOMED EVERY NIGHT HERE IN ST. GERMAIN AREA. WE DO NEED MORE SNOW FOR SURE. SOME AREAS OF HIGH TRAFFIC (AND REMEMBER OUR AREA IS THE MOST POPULAR RIDING AREA IN THE MIDWEST) ARE BROWN. SOME TIGHT CORNERS ARE ICY.

BUT THE GOOD NEWS IS WHEN YOU GET INTO THE WOODS, WHICH IS MOST OF OUR RIDING AREA, THEY ARE GREAT AND WE HAVE SO MANY TRAILS AND DIFFERENT ROUTES TO GET TO ANY ONE DESTINATION. FOR EXAMPLE, WHEN THE VINTAGE GUYS LEAVE THE HOF, YOU CAN GO ABOUT 6 OR 8 DIFFERENT ROUTES AND END UP AT LUNCH AT BOSACKIS BOATHOUSE ON LAKE MINOCQUA AND IT IS 14 MILES AWAY BY CAR AND ONLY TWO WAYS TO GET THERE BY CAR.

THE HARDER RIDING GROUPS ON THE 22ND WILL HEAD STRAIGHT OUT OF EAGLE RIVER TO THE NORTH AND THE FURTHER NORTH YOU GO THE MORE SNOW AND BETTER CONDITIONS.

WEIRD WEATHER THIS YEAR AS MAJOR STORMS HAVE ALL GONE SOUTH OF US OR HAVE SPLIT UP AND GONE NORTH OF US AND DOWN STATE. LIKE TODAY , MILW AND CHICAGO HAD SNOW AND WE HAD SUNSHINE.

THE GOOD NEWS IS WE ARE EXPECTING SNOW NEXT WEEK.....LET'S PRAY THAT IT ARRIVES BY WEDNESDAY. 23 YEARS AND WE HAVE NEVER CANCELLED THE RIDE. NO MATTER WHAT, WE EAT THE THREE MEALS AND DO THE INDUCTION BANQUET AND HAVE ALL THE GREAT FELLOWSHIP AND THAT IS WORTH THE $100 ALONE...EVEN IF WE RIDE MOTORCYCLES TO THE PLACES ! ! ! !

Loren.
