Today I got the new gas cap with fuel gauge, but it was way to long to fit into the gas tank.
So I cut out a mid section of 10cm (4") and welded it back together. Had to twist the "cork spiral" 1/4 turn to get it to show Empty.
In place

Now I need help from the Deere pro's... I just can't get the secondary clutch off
I have filled the centre with rust solvent over and over again, and heated the axle with propane gas burner.
But not even a perfect puller can get the clutch off.
So now I need some good advice how to get it loose.
It's stuck like a primary can be. But it's more easy with a primary that is stuck on a tapered axle, using the oil trick.

If you mean the short aluminium stump, so yes it's removed (not at first

Aha, the woodruff key... But do you mean that you draw the key out when the sheave still is on the drive shaft?

Where did the short aluminum stump come from? That doesn't look like something I've ever seen. Maybe a previous owner did something different. Item 7 should be a long piece of square metal key stock.

The clutch is off
Nick: The aluminium stump was in the hollow first part of the clutch centre. And it was not ONE, it was three in there... Probably just as you said, a previous owner thought it was a good idea to fill inside. But he must have forced them in, because they was locking everyting.
So I drilled right trough them with a 16mm drill and after that the puller worked just fine to get the clutch off.

Do you mean #6 and #12?
Number 6 is a plastic/nylon bushing pressed in to the helix and number 12 is a fiber armed ring pressed in to the moving sheave.

I gently sanded the inside of the sheaves to remove the rust. I will let the drivebelt do some work and then if necessary put them in a turner to make new surface.
They are smother than it looks
The outside got a rim paint
Put new clutch buttons in
Put together again

With the secondary off, I can take out the drive shaft and mount new bearings on both sides.
No speedometer drive here. But I have a good one just waiting to be mounted.
Bearing loose
No problem taken the bolts out on the drive cogs. I love my sled lift
The drive cog was a bit stuck (yes, I sanded the shaft) so a piece of pipe and a hammer helped
Drive shaft out and ready for new bearings
and the track is on the floor...

Hey at least you don't have to mess with a secondary shaft and chaincase!
