Liquifire gasket set
Are the Cometics brand gasket sets for 80+ liquifire decent? I was looking to reseal my 80 but have heard bad things about the winderosa sets. Most importantly I want the crank seals to be good quality. Should I maybe use deere crank seals instead? -Luke

Re: Liquifire gasket set
Cometics are the best aftermarket gaskets out there in my opinion, next to original JD.
The winderosa crank seals I see no quality problems with. Never new you could get JD crank seals still to date.

I see deere seals on e-bay every once and a while. Thanks for your help. I thought that the cosmetics where decent but was looking for a second opinion.

Re: Liquifire gasket set
I will never use antoher Winderosa head gasket. I use the NOS upper end kit from DK trader (Dennis Kirk ~ ebay) and get Winderosa crank seals.
The only time I used Winderosa head gaskets I had compression leaking out through one of the studs. Once was enough for me.

I wont even separate the head from the jug anymore, I pull the head and jug as a unit.

Re: Liquifire gasket set
I was not aware that Cometic made a gasket set for the Liquifire. I thought their kit was for the Invader, which I believe has different crank seals. I seem to remember it’s quite cheaper to go with the NOS top end and buy Winderosa seals separately.

http://www.cometic.com/snowmobile.aspx I believe this kit is for kawi's like you guys said. Soooo, Winderosa crank seals are good or bad or depends? I have deere head gaskets but really also need crank seals too if I'm going through the work. Will they get the job done without a headache down the road? -Luke

Re: Liquifire gasket set
I would defiantly give the Winderosa crank seals 2 thumbs up. I have them in a liquifire engine that I went through in 1998 and have not had any issues. I just bought a set for the engine I'm working on now. It cost about $12 for the set of 3 (1 is just an oil seal for the oil pump drive gears). In my opinion it's the best $12 you can spend.
