Really?!? Is it that hard??

Post by Mr300 »

Pulled the motor out of the 300 for gaskets and seals. Tried every which way, turned, pulled, pushed on the stock muffler and it won't come out of the dark recess it sits in!! Only way I can see is to pull off the secondary clutch to get enough "wiggle room" to get it to clear everything and come out. Sound right?? Or am I just really missing something here?? TIA.

It will come out without removing the secondary.

Lossen the clamp that holds the muffler to the mounting bracket and turn it about 45 degress.

Presto it is out.

However removing the secondary for a good going over is not a bad idea.

In a few years when you want to put new seals in again you can leave the engine in the chassis.
The Kohler 300 is the easiest engine I have ever worked on to R&R seals.

The seals are not mounted in the crankcase.
