Hoping someone can tell me what I'm missing! Used to working with bikes, so I'm a little novice on the two cylinder two strokes.
I have a 73 (74?) 600 with the walboro carb. I pulled and rebuilt the carb (Cleaned it all out and all new gaskets). What a stack of pancakes!
Is there some trick to getting this kind of carb primed? I have good spark, decent compression (I think) and a very tired arm!
Thanks in advance! Any hints?

Are you saying that it is not pumping fuel?
Is so I would think crank seals, filter and tank pickup to start with.

I replaced the fuel filter, and replace the pickup line in the tank (It had fallen...er rotted off and fell into the bottom of the tank.
Is the return line supposed to also be below the level of the fuel? or does it just dump into the top of the tank?
Is there a way to 'prime' a totally dry carberator? I think the carb trying to pump fuel all the way through the lines when they are full of air (which can contract and expand instead of actually pumping) is part of my problem...???

Re: 73' 600 wont start.
I rebuilt my Walbro a couple months ago, and never needed to "prime" the fuel pump portion. Is the impulse line ok and not dry rotted or cracked? Make sure the fitting is tight the impulse line is connected to on carb (its pressed in). One thing i've learned with carbs is if you think their "clean enough" clean them again. All old gasket material was scraped away and you didn't cut into the metal on the plate faces? Depending on the model of Walbro, was all three valve springs there? I don't believe they are in the WDA-1 carb, but i think they are in the rest. One i rebuilt was missing one of the springs. Just some thoughts you could try, hope they help!

Spray some premix into the carb, or squirt some down each plug hole.
If it runs on spray, it should quickly pull fuel up the supply line, and back the return. If it doesn't, then you can figure you do have a fuel delivery issue.

Re: 73' 600 wont start.
OK, brand new symptom!!!!!!!!! So now, two or three pulls and there is fuel running out the air box side of the carb! Three or four good drops per pull! So the pump is definitely working! but something else is amiss. Any clues before I rip the carb back off and go through it again?

Did you set the metering arm in the carb? There is usually paperwork with the carb kit that explains this. I thought I had it on the site, but must have misplaced it.

Matt,
I went and looked. If it came with any documentation, I have misplaced it! Can you point me at a source for the information?
If it matters, its a WDA32, and all three flapper springs are there (someone asked). I have the carb off again, so I will wait to see if I get a response on this before I put it back together again.
Thanks for all the help guys! Keep it coming.
