JD Gurus:
I am using a '76 Cyclone motor with stock pipe in my 440cc fan vintage oval sled for this season. Can anyone give me suggestions for what your experiences have taught you on optimizing the performance in this monster? Thanks in advance.
E-mail replies would be best.

You could install the duel carb setup from a 440 liquifire. It is a direct bolt-on installation which includes the intake manifold, carbs, and throttle and choke cables and the air box.

Like harley said the dual carb setup seems to be a winner.

Thanks tons for the idea on the twin carbs. Which model year Liquifires would I be able to interchange? Of course, the next question will be... anyone got one and how much?

You can interchange model years '76 thru '78. Watch ebay, I have seen them often. You could check CentralSnowmobile,

Hi Guys,
The dual carb set up is a good improvement, my 78 Cyclone 440 is done up like that. Just watch your jetting. Also, as for stock parts, the 76-78 LF muffler is larger diameter, and tuned for around 5-7 hp on the top end over the stock Cyclone unit. The problem is making it fit with the funny shaped Cyclone exhaust manifold.
You could either modify the outlet of the Cyclone manifold, or modify the flange of the LF part. They do not directly interchange due to the Cyclone using 2 bolt flanges on a steep angle vs the LF 3 bolt flanges that are tipped up somewhat.
Good luck with your machine,

Ok... I'm starting to piece things together. Thanks for the suggestions.
Next question: What is the recommended Mikuni carb size for the twin set up?
