Well thanks to all your tips and the purchase of a good craftsman puller, I got the flywheel off. Points are corroded pretty good, and the bottom coil has some breaks in it. Whats the best place to start to get this thing back sparking and going again, The magnets inside the flywheel are pretty rusty too. Ive never worked on these CCW engines before.
Are the ignition components the same for all ccw fan engines, I have another one out of a raider, is there any differences??, Thanks again. Just trying to have this ready for my brother when he comes home from alaska next week.

The lower coil is the lighting coil.
Your not painting a real rosy picture here. Kioritz used both Nippondenso and Kokusan ignition components.
A '73 400, should have a Kokusan.

Re: 73 JD 400 No Spark
Ill go out and get some pics of the ignition system today. and get the serial off the engine and the sled. My brother says its a 73. He restored it 2 years ago and because of it having no spark, it was put away and he moved to alaska. Fast forward till now, I get it out, pull the engine shrouds off, find rust, mice nest, you know that lovely stuff.
the points are almost green. I guess ill clean them up today and pull out the lighting coil and hunt up a replacement
